About the role
The Mechanical Engineer will support product design and development for semiconductor and automation equipment in a contract, onsite role based in Fremont, CA. The position focuses on 3D CAD modeling, assembly and mechanism design, prototype validation, BOM management, engineering changes, manufacturing support, and collaboration with electrical, firmware, and systems engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive product design and development activities for mechanical equipment and assemblies.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed mechanical drawings using Creo and AutoCAD.
- Design mechanical assemblies and mechanisms for semiconductor and automation equipment.
- Build and validate prototypes to assess design performance and functionality.
- Manage bills of materials, including release activities and technical documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical, Firmware, and System Engineering teams.
- Provide manufacturing and supplier support throughout product development and production activities.
- Apply knowledge of sheet metal, machining, and casting manufacturing processes.
- Implement engineering changes through ECR and ECO processes.
- Support product documentation and design information within PDM and PLM systems.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience with product design and development, mechanical assemblies, and mechanisms.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling and detailing.
- Experience supporting prototype build and validation activities.
- Experience with BOM release and documentation.
- Ability to collaborate with Electrical, Firmware, and System Engineering teams.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and suppliers.
- Knowledge of sheet metal, machining, and casting processes.
- Experience implementing engineering changes through ECR and ECO processes.
- Ability to work onsite in Fremont, CA on a contract basis.
