About the role

The Electrical Engineer - AI Trainer will use practical electrical engineering expertise to design realistic circuit and system problems, evaluate frontier AI model outputs, and document technically rigorous judgments. This remote contract role requires at least 3 years of industry experience, current or recent individual-contributor technical work, strong circuit analysis and design judgment, fluency with engineering tools, and professional or native-level English communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design challenging, realistic electrical engineering problems based on practical work, including circuits to specify, control loops to stabilize, power stages to size, and signal chains to debug.
  • Author supporting professional files for tasks, such as schematics, simulation setups, datasheets, board files, measurement data, and design calculations.
  • Run electrical engineering problems through frontier AI models and judge the outputs against professional engineering standards.
  • Compare two model versions using identical prompts, determine which performs better, and document where each model falls short.
  • Critique model-generated derivations, schematics, component selections, and calculations.
  • Write detailed rationale explaining exactly why an answer is incorrect, rather than only identifying that it is incorrect.
  • Flag and document concrete failures with supporting evidence, including wrong assumptions, sign and unit errors, unphysical results, invalid topologies, fabricated datasheet values, and off-brief interpretations.
  • Contribute domain expertise across analog, RF and mixed-signal, electromagnetics, electric power, and energy systems.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of industry experience in electrical engineering, circuit design, or related fields.
  • Current or recent experience performing technical work as an individual contributor.
  • An in-progress Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong command of circuit analysis and design tradeoffs, with the ability to defend component-level and system-level decisions.
  • Fluency with simulation and engineering tools, including SPICE, schematic capture, PCB tools, lab instruments, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Strong written communication and the ability to articulate why a technical answer is wrong.
  • Professional or native-level English.
  • General familiarity with AI and LLM tools, or the ability to pick them up quickly.
  • Location in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, Ireland, or New Zealand.
  • Availability for at least 10 hours per week.

Benefits and Perks

  • Ultimate Flexibility: Fully remote, project-based contract work with the ability to choose which projects to work on and when.
  • Competitive Pay: $40–$120 USD per hour, with bonus rates available on some projects.
  • No Overhead: Access to Claude and ChatGPT is provided, so personal subscriptions are not required.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible multi-day task timers, no shift work, and no weekly maximums after the 10-hour minimum.
