About the role

We are seeking experienced science and engineering professionals for fully remote, project-based contract work training and improving AI systems. Contributors evaluate AI-generated responses, create realistic technical problems, write expert explanations, and grade model outputs against detailed rubrics. The role requires approximately 2+ years of applied science or engineering experience, an in-progress Bachelor's degree or higher, hands-on experience with real-world technical data, strong written communication, and independent working ability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate AI-generated responses to science and engineering prompts, including analyses, calculations, experimental designs, and technical explanations.
  • Design realistic and challenging technical problems based on professional experience in science or engineering.
  • Write clear, expert-level solutions and explanations that can serve as model training examples.
  • Grade model outputs against detailed rubrics and identify errors, flawed reasoning, ambiguity, or unsupported conclusions.
  • Provide corrective guidance that improves the accuracy, rigor, and reliability of AI-generated responses.
  • Run tasks against AI models and iterate based on expert reviewer feedback.
  • Apply scientific reasoning, statistical reasoning, experimental reasoning, and data judgment to realistic technical scenarios.
  • Analyze real-world measurement, test, and process data, including instrument data, test and measurement files, CAD models, simulation outputs, and lab records.
  • Follow detailed written instructions precisely, including document and upload format requirements.
  • Maintain consistent quality and throughput throughout project-based sprint engagements while working independently.
  • Explain technical conclusions in complete, clear written English and participate constructively in feedback and revision cycles.

Required Qualifications

  • Approximately 2+ years of applied science or engineering experience in industry or advanced research.
  • Experience in a science or engineering discipline such as mechanical, electrical, civil, materials, energy, chemical, environmental, physics, or a similar field.
  • An in-progress Bachelor's degree or higher. Undergraduate study does not count toward the experience minimum.
  • Hands-on individual-contributor experience performing technical work such as design, test, process, or analysis rather than working solely in a managerial capacity.
  • Hands-on practice with real-world technical data, including instrument data, test and measurement data, CAD models, simulation outputs, or lab records.
  • Comfort with statistical and experimental reasoning, including experiment design, measurement error, and common statistical traps.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Careful reading of written instructions and willingness to complete feedback and revision cycles.
  • General familiarity with AI/LLM tools at the user level.
  • Baseline tech literacy, including cloud file tools, browser profile management, desktop application installation, and everyday file handling.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, self-directed environment.
  • Availability for project-based work; no minimum weekly commitment is required, although approximately 10 hours per week is recommended as a starting point.
  • Assessment submissions must reflect the candidate's own expertise. AI or LLM assistance is not permitted and results in disqualification.

Benefits and Perks

  • Fully remote, self-directed project-based work.
  • Flexible participation with no minimum weekly commitment and approximately 10 hours per week recommended as a starting point.
  • Pay of $40–$125+ per hour on a project basis.
  • Payment through PayPal on a regular cadence.
  • Opportunities to contribute to AI training across generalist and specialized science and engineering projects.
  • Work that applies professional expertise to improve the accuracy and reliability of AI systems.
  • No fees or payments are required from candidates.
