About the role

We are seeking practicing electrical and electronics engineers to train and evaluate frontier AI models on real circuit- and system-level engineering work. This fully remote, project-based contract requires at least 2 years of hands-on industry experience, current or recent individual-contributor practice, strong engineering judgment, and proficiency with circuit simulation, schematic and PCB tools, laboratory instruments, MATLAB or Python, and technical analysis. Contributors design realistic engineering tasks, assess model outputs, create grading rubrics, and document technical failures against professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design challenging, realistic electrical and electronics engineering problems based on your professional expertise, including circuit specifications, control loops, link budgets, power stages, and signal chains.
  • Author the supporting professional files required for each task, such as schematics, simulation setups, datasheets, board files, measurement data, and design calculations.
  • Run engineering problems through frontier AI models and evaluate the resulting deliverables against professional engineering standards.
  • Compare model versions using identical prompts and supporting material, determine which model performed better, and document the reasons for the assessment.
  • Critique model-generated derivations, schematics, component selections, simulation setups, and design calculations for technical correctness.
  • Develop detailed grading rubrics that define what constitutes a correct deliverable and explain the engineering rationale behind each judgment.
  • Identify and document concrete failures, including incorrect assumptions, sign and unit errors, unphysical results, invalid component or topology choices, misapplied approximations, fabricated datasheet values, and misread schematics or plots.
  • Contribute expertise across relevant engineering domains, including analog, RF and mixed-signal circuits, electromagnetics, microwaves and antennas, control and systems, electronic devices and materials, signal processing, photonics and optoelectronics, and electric power and energy systems.
  • Review and refine tasks created by other engineers and provide precise feedback grounded in professional engineering practice.
  • Propose engineering scenarios from your own experience, complete accepted tasks through expert review, and revise deliverables based on feedback before progressing to subsequent project stages.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of industry experience in circuit or electronics engineering, with 5 or more years considered a plus.
  • Current or recent experience performing technical work as an individual contributor rather than solely in a managerial capacity.
  • Background in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • In-progress Bachelor's degree or higher, as specified in the must-have qualifications.
  • Strong command of circuit analysis and design tradeoffs, including the ability to defend component-level and system-level decisions.
  • Fluency with circuit simulation, including SPICE and similar tools, schematic capture and PCB tools, laboratory instruments, and MATLAB or Python for engineering analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit design, hardware design, hardware debugging, board bring-up, and technical engineering workflows.
  • Strong written communication and the ability to explain complex professional reasoning and articulate why an answer is wrong, not only that it is wrong.
  • General familiarity with AI and LLM tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
  • Attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to verify claims against underlying numbers, sources, or facts.
  • Ability to interpret feedback, determine which parts are correct, and apply revisions independently.
  • Baseline technology literacy, including cloud file tools, browser profiles, desktop applications, and everyday file handling.
  • Availability for at least 10 hours per week. The project prioritizes 30–40 hours per week, with no weekly maximum.
  • Professional or native-level written and spoken English.
  • Ability to complete the assessment and project work independently; submissions produced with AI tools are rejected.
  • Location in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, Ireland, or New Zealand.

Benefits and Perks

  • Fully remote, project-based contract work with flexible scheduling.
  • Competitive compensation of $40–$125+ per hour USD, with bonus rates available on some projects.
  • Payment through PayPal on a regular cadence.
  • Access to Claude and ChatGPT through the project; no personal subscription is required.
  • Flexible multi-day task timers that allow contributors to spread work across days.
  • No shift work and no weekly maximum after the 10-hour minimum.
  • Opportunities to work on advanced AI evaluation projects grounded in real electrical and electronics engineering practice.
  • Paid compensation for completed project stages that are accepted through the review process.
