About the role

AI Labs is seeking a Visual Design Evaluator to assess AI-generated slide decks, layouts, interfaces, and marketing assets for craft, clarity, visual quality, and alignment with professional standards. This remote contract role requires 2–3 years of relevant design experience, a strong portfolio, proficiency in Figma and slide tools, excellent written English, and the ability to provide structured design judgments and feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate AI-generated designs against quality rubrics covering visual hierarchy, typography, layout, colour, spacing, and brand consistency.
  • Review slide decks, layouts, interfaces, and marketing assets for craft, clarity, and professional quality.
  • Identify craft failures such as misalignment, inconsistent spacing, poor contrast, illegible type, and broken visual hierarchy.
  • Determine whether designs accurately address the stated brief and identify areas where the work misses its intended objective.
  • Write clear, structured feedback and provide a written justification for every score.
  • Apply design judgment consistently when reviewing work that may appear polished at first glance.
  • Help refine grading criteria and contribute to improvements in the evaluation process.
  • Iterate on evaluation practices based on feedback from senior reviewers.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of professional experience in visual, graphic, brand, presentation, or UI design.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong command of typography, layout, colour, and visual hierarchy.
  • High proficiency in Figma and slide tools, including PowerPoint and Google Slides; Adobe Creative Suite experience as relevant.
  • Ability to articulate design judgments in writing rather than presenting them visually only.
  • Excellent written English.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions, reason through ambiguity, and identify craft errors in polished-looking work.
  • Ability to clearly separate what you know from what you are inferring.
  • Ability to work independently, learn new tools quickly, and receive feedback constructively.
  • Based in and working from the US, Canada, or UK.
  • Available for 10+ hours per week for the full 12-week engagement.
  • A portfolio link is required with the application.
