About the role
We are seeking experienced licensed clinicians to serve as Medical AI Trainers, evaluating and improving frontier AI models on realistic clinical work. Contributors will design clinical scenarios, assess model outputs against professional standards, write detailed grading rubrics, identify safety and reasoning failures, and refine tasks across clinical settings. The role is fully remote and project-based, requires at least 10 hours per week, and offers $40-$125 per hour USD.
Key Responsibilities
- Design challenging, realistic clinical tasks based on day-to-day professional practice, including scenarios, prompts, and supporting constructed or de-identified files.
- Create clinical materials such as histories, examination findings, laboratory data, imaging reports, medication lists, and prior notes for use in realistic AI evaluation tasks.
- Run clinical tasks through frontier AI models and evaluate the resulting notes, plans, reconciliations, summaries, protocols, or other deliverables against professional standards.
- Compare two model outputs using identical prompts and files, determine which performed better, and document the strengths and shortcomings of each response.
- Write detailed grading rubrics that define appropriate differentials, red flags, medication decisions, communication standards, and other requirements for a correct deliverable.
- Identify and document concrete model failures, including unsupported assessments, missed contraindications or interactions, diagnostic anchoring, fabricated or ignored data, unsafe communication, and off-brief interpretations.
- Assess work outside your primary unit or specialty by applying a working understanding of adjacent clinical settings and their workflows.
- Review and refine clinical tasks created by other clinicians and incorporate expert feedback into task development.
- Propose, build, and complete approved tasks through the platform's staged review process, revising work as needed before advancing to subsequent stages.
Required Qualifications
- Active or recent clinical license as an RN, NP, PA, MD or DO, PharmD, or an allied health license with independent clinical judgment.
- In-progress Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Current or recent hands-on clinical practice is preferred; candidates with less than two years may be considered where the practical work is real.
- Depth in at least one clinical setting or specialty, such as acute care and medical-surgical care, emergency care, critical care, primary care and family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, behavioral health, geriatrics and long-term care, perioperative care, oncology, or pharmacy.
- Working understanding of adjacent clinical settings and the workflows used in those environments.
- Ability to read and write clinical documentation at a practitioner level and ground decisions in current clinical guidelines and patient context.
- Hands-on practitioner experience at an individual-contributor level rather than solely in a managerial capacity.
- Full professional or native-level written and spoken English, with strong written communication and the ability to explain complex professional reasoning clearly and concisely.
- Comfort with ambiguity, attention to detail, and the ability to verify document claims against underlying numbers, sources, or facts.
- Ability to interpret feedback, evaluate its accuracy, and apply it independently.
- Ability to ramp quickly on unfamiliar work using written materials and instructions, including incomplete materials.
- General familiarity with AI and large language model tools, including professional use of Claude or ChatGPT.
- Baseline technology literacy, including comfort with cloud file tools, browser profiles, desktop application installation, and everyday file handling.
- Availability of at least 10 hours per week, with no weekly maximum.
- Based in the United States, Canada, or the UK.
