About the role

The Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer will develop high-reliability slip ring assemblies for aerospace, aviation, and defense applications, contributing across concept development, detailed mechanical, thermal, and electrical design, analysis, production documentation, and manufacturing support. The role requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering, at least 5 years of experience designing and analyzing precision rotating electromechanical equipment, and hands-on experience with CAD/CAE, FEA, GD&T, design for manufacture and assembly, and production hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish concepts and requirements to successfully conduct and support slip ring design efforts across mechanical, thermal, and electrical engineering disciplines.
  • Develop and analyze high-reliability slip ring assemblies for aerospace, aviation, defense, and related space and military applications.
  • Understand and interpret customer specifications and requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with suppliers and customers for project-related technical aspects.
  • Carry designs from inception during the bids and proposal phase through detailed design development, analysis, and creation of production drawings and documentation.
  • Continue providing engineering support as slip ring products progress through production build and test.
  • Expand existing technology through participation in internal research and development efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a mechanical or aeronautical engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the design and analysis of precision rotating electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience in mechanical design, including design for manufacture and assembly of production hardware.
  • Experience using CAD/CAE and FEA.
  • Experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering prints for production hardware.
  • Experience reviewing peers' designs and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of machining and manufacturing capabilities and drafting standards.
