About the role
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer / Cold Forming will develop, optimize, and support high-volume metal manufacturing processes across multiple aerospace, aviation, and defense manufacturing sites. This senior-level role focuses on CNC machining, cold forming, cold heading, rolling, extrusion, secondary operations, tooling, materials, supplier development, and production support, with 10+ years of experience required and travel of 50%–75%.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, optimization, and ongoing support of high-volume CNC machining and cold forming processes across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Provide strategic process engineering direction for cold forming, cold heading, rolling, extrusion, and secondary operations.
- Evaluate, develop, and improve tooling and equipment to support reliable, efficient, and repeatable production.
- Lead manufacturing engineering support for New Product Introduction (NPI), translating product requirements into capable production processes.
- Drive quality and continuous improvement activities across machining and cold forming operations.
- Apply metal forming physics, machining fundamentals, and tooling knowledge to resolve complex production issues and improve process performance.
- Support materials development and supplier development activities involving steels and aluminum.
- Coordinate technical solutions across plants, suppliers, and corporate engineering as a senior cross-functional technical liaison.
- Provide strategic production support for multi-site manufacturing and supplier-facing operations, including extended on-site assignments.
- Travel 50%–75% of the time to support manufacturing sites, suppliers, and implementation activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in machining and/or cold forming environments.
- Cold forming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with steels and aluminum.
- Strong understanding of metal forming physics, machining fundamentals, and tooling.
- Experience with CNC machining, cold heading, rolling, extrusion, and secondary operations.
- Experience supporting production in multi-site or supplier-facing roles.
- Experience with materials development, supplier development, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to provide cross-functional leadership and act as a technical liaison between plants, suppliers, and corporate engineering.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%, including extended on-site assignments.
