About the role

The Robotics Engineering Lead will own the automation of targeted semiconductor manufacturing processes from concept through production, integrating collaborative robots for assembly, handling, and test tasks and autonomous mobile robots for factory-floor material movement. This onsite role requires a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of industrial automation or robotics experience in a live manufacturing or production environment, and a strong combination of software and mechanical engineering expertise, including cobot programming, simulation, ROS/ROS 2, machine vision, AMR integration, CAD, and robotic safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the automation of targeted manufacturing processes from initial concept through deployment in production.
  • Program and integrate collaborative robots for assembly, material handling, and test tasks.
  • Integrate cobot end-effectors, grippers, and vision systems for production applications.
  • Deploy autonomous mobile robots to move material across the manufacturing floor.
  • Use cobot simulation and offline programming tools to validate cell layouts, cycle times, and reachability before physical deployment.
  • Apply ROS and ROS 2 with robot simulation and digital-twin tools to develop and validate robotic systems.
  • Develop and support material-handling automation, AMR fleet management, and integration with warehouse management systems and manufacturing execution systems.
  • Apply 2D/3D machine vision, force/torque control, and pick-and-place applications to manufacturing automation.
  • Use CAD tools to design tooling and manufacturing layouts.
  • Apply machine safety standards and conduct risk assessment for robotic and collaborative applications.
  • Coordinate software and mechanical engineering considerations across automation solutions in electronics and precision manufacturing environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ years in industrial automation or robotics in a live manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mix of software engineering and mechanical engineering.
  • Hands-on experience programming and integrating collaborative robots, including Universal Robots or similar systems.
  • Experience integrating end-effectors, grippers, and vision.
  • Experience with autonomous mobile robots and material-handling automation on a factory floor.
  • Experience with cobot simulation and offline programming tools for validating cobot cell layouts, cycle times, and reachability before physical deployment.
  • Experience with ROS, ROS 2, robot simulation, or digital-twin tools, including RobotStudio, RoboDK, or vendor equivalents.
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D machine vision, force/torque control, and pick-and-place applications.
  • Experience with AMR fleet management and integration with warehouse management systems and manufacturing execution systems.
  • Experience in electronics or precision, high-mix / low-volume manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with CAD, including Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD, for tooling and layout.
  • Working knowledge of machine safety standards and risk assessment for robotic and collaborative applications, including ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, ISO 12100, and ISO 13849.

Benefits and Perks

  • Base salary of $150,000–$190,000 per year.
  • Relocation availability is indicated for the Santa Rosa, California position.
  • Opportunity to lead robotics and automation initiatives in semiconductor, electronics, and precision manufacturing.
