About the role

The Senior Electronics Design Engineer will design and develop electronic hardware solutions for mission-critical aerospace and defense applications in Blacksburg, Virginia. This role requires a bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience developing electronic hardware products and systems, with responsibilities spanning circuit design, PCB development, hardware integration, verification, testing, technical planning, and cross-functional product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design hardware schematics, PCB layouts, and bills of materials (BOMs) for electronic hardware products and systems.
  • Develop electronic hardware designs from initial concept through testing and implementation.
  • Conduct hardware integration, verification, troubleshooting, and testing across product development activities.
  • Develop engineering test requirements and unit-level, subsystem-level, and system-level test plans.
  • Ensure traceability between customer requirements and system requirements throughout the design and verification process.
  • Support technical project planning, including proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and design reviews.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the product development lifecycle to resolve technical issues and advance designs.
  • Contribute technical input to the development of new technologies, products, and processes.
  • Help align engineering solutions with cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Apply expertise across circuit design, PCB development, embedded hardware, system integration, and hardware verification as appropriate to project needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing electronic hardware products and systems.
  • Experience designing electronic hardware products and bringing designs from concept through testing and implementation.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: circuit design, PCB development, embedded hardware, system integration, or hardware verification.
  • Experience with hardware schematics, PCB layouts, bills of materials (BOMs), hardware integration, troubleshooting, and hardware testing.
  • Experience supporting technical project planning, including proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and design reviews.
  • Ability to work with customer requirements, system requirements, engineering test requirements, and unit-, subsystem-, and system-level test plans.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
