About the role
The Aerospace Design Engineer will serve as a technical expert for military and commercial electrical wiring system components, including connectors, backshells, conduit assemblies, and cable assemblies. This role requires a bachelor's degree and at least five years of product engineering experience in interconnect product development, analysis, testing, qualification, failure investigation, and engineering program leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical expert for internal research and development, new product development, sustaining engineering, product manufacturing transitions, and new business proposals.
- Provide technical advice and engineering support to upper management, customers, industry groups, and suppliers.
- Lead product engineering activities for military and commercial electrical wiring system components, including connectors, backshells, connector accessories, conduit assemblies, and cable assemblies.
- Lead engineering programs by coordinating work, delegating tasks, and coaching peers or junior engineers.
- Lead failure investigations and drive effective resolution using formal problem-solving tools such as 8 Disciplines (8D) and RedX.
- Present failure investigation findings and recommendations to technical leadership inside and outside the business.
- Lead product qualification programs for mechanical and electrical products.
- Direct the structure, design, and authoring of compliance matrices and validation and verification test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Interpret and generate 3D CAD models and drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements.
- Apply CN/CO processes and change management practices while supporting document control and workflow management through PDM/PLM systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least five years of product engineering experience in interconnect product development, analysis, and testing.
- Experience with electrical connectors, associated components, cable harnesses, and conduit assemblies.
- Experience leading engineering programs that require delegation of tasks and coaching of peers or junior engineers.
- Experience leading and resolving failure investigations using formal problem-solving tools such as 8 Disciplines (8D) or RedX.
- Experience presenting failure investigation findings to technical leadership inside and outside the business.
- Experience leading product qualification programs for mechanical and/or electrical products.
- Experience directing the structure, design, and authoring of compliance matrices and validation and verification test plans, procedures, and reports.
Benefits and Perks
- Base salary range of $160,000–$190,000.
