About the role

The Tealium Implementation Specialist will own the configuration, governance, optimization, and quality of the organization’s tag management and data collection stack within the Marketing Analytics function. This senior-level role requires 3+ years of hands-on tag management experience, production ownership of Tealium iQ or an equivalent enterprise TMS, and strong working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, the DOM, data layer architecture, privacy requirements, and cross-platform measurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of marketing tags, pixels, and analytics events through scoping, build, testing, quality assurance, publishing, version control, and deprecation.
  • Design and govern scalable tracking architecture, standardized data layers, event schemas, structured event taxonomies, naming conventions, and implementation documentation across web and mobile properties.
  • Configure Tealium iQ load rules, extensions, and scope conditions to ensure tags fire accurately and efficiently without redundant or duplicative calls.
  • Lead the audit and ongoing optimization of the Tealium environment, including active tags, extensions, load rules, data layer coverage, stale assets, and orphaned or redundant tags.
  • Establish and maintain a recurring quality assurance program covering pre-release validation, post-deployment smoke tests, periodic audits, anomaly detection, and reconciliation against source-of-truth reporting.
  • Diagnose tag firing issues and data discrepancies using browser developer tools, network request inspection, Tealium Web Companion, platform-native debuggers, and systematic troubleshooting methods.
  • Reconcile measurement differences across GA4, Meta, Google Ads, ad servers, backend order data, and data warehouse tables, driving issues to root cause and prioritizing remediation.
  • Support server-side data collection, event forwarding, Conversions API integrations, enhanced conversion imports, offline conversion management, identifier hygiene, and consistent event schemas.
  • Implement and maintain consent management logic so tags respect user preferences, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, cookie deprecation considerations, and applicable regional requirements while enforcing PII handling policies.
  • Partner with software engineers, product managers, and marketing teams to translate business questions into tracking requirements, assess technical feasibility, define timelines, and guide implementation decisions.
  • Serve as the go-to senior resource for tracking requests and provide clear scope, tradeoff, and architectural guidance to non-technical marketing stakeholders.
  • Define governance standards and mentor cross-functional partners on implementation documentation, naming conventions, data layer requirements, and maintainable tracking practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on tag management experience.
  • Demonstrable production ownership of Tealium iQ or an equivalent enterprise Tag Management System with a clear path to Tealium proficiency.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, the DOM, and CSS sufficient to write and debug extensions, read page implementations, and communicate credibly with engineers.
  • Practical experience with digital analytics platforms, Digital Marketing Operations, Ad Operations, Technical Marketing, and Tracking Mechanisms.
  • Experience with SDKs, Pixel Setups, Server-side APIs, Tag Management Systems, Conversion Pixels, Event Tags, Custom Tracking Scripts, Offline Conversion Management, and CRM Stage Progression.
  • Strong grasp of Tracking Architecture, Data Pipelines, Data-layer Variables, event schemas, and structured event taxonomy design.
  • Experience identifying Data Leaks, Double-counting Issues, Data Discrepancies, and data quality issues through Quality Assurance and Anomaly Detection.
  • Experience with First-party Data Syncing, Audience Creation, Retargeting, Lookalike Modeling, UTM Taxonomy, and Naming Convention governance.
  • Experience with CRM, Web Analytics, Google Analytics 4, Adobe Analytics, SQL, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and Data Warehouse environments.
  • Knowledge of Privacy Landscape requirements, Cookie Deprecation, consent management logic, GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA.
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager, Meta Conversions API, Google Ads Enhanced Conversions, TikTok Events API, and Google GCLID.
  • Strong understanding of browser developer tools, network request inspection, and platform debuggers.
  • Ability to explain technical constraints and tradeoffs to non-technical marketing stakeholders.
